Darwin, Australia: A group of Darwin residents from diverse backgrounds has come together to support Nepal following devastating floods, raising and sending NPR 459,500 to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund – Nepal.

The fundraising initiative was led by the Unique Auto Tech family in Darwin, after floods caused significant damage and hardship in Nepal. According to Saj and Vin of Unique Auto Tech, the effort began with a simple desire to contribute to relief efforts.

“When the floods hit Nepal, we were already thinking about how we could do our small part to help,” they said.

The initiative gained momentum when friends approached the family asking how they could help. The idea was then shared with a wider circle of friends and family in Malaysia and Singapore, with people from different backgrounds joining the campaign.

The organisers said the response from the Darwin community was deeply moving, highlighting the willingness of people from different parts of the world to come together for a common humanitarian cause.

Even the family’s daughter contributed to the campaign using money from her own piggy bank savings, adding a personal touch to the fundraising effort.

The contribution of NPR 459,500 was successfully transferred to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, according to the transaction details shared by Unique Auto Tech.

The family said the campaign was never about the size of the donation, but about the spirit behind it.

“This is not about the amount. It is about the heart behind it, the willingness to help, and humanity without borders.”

Expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed, Saj and Vin said they felt incredibly proud of their Darwin friends for standing with Nepal during a difficult time.

“Different backgrounds. One heart. One humanity,” they said.

The initiative is another example of the multicultural Darwin community coming together to support people affected by disasters in Nepal.
